VALLEY OF FIRE STATE PARK

Valley of Fire State Park is located about 58 miles from the Las Vegas Strip. It is Nevada’s oldest State Park and its name was derived from the dramatic red sandstone formations that can appear to be on fire when reflecting the sun’s rays. Other important rock formations include limestone, shale and conglomerates creating some of the parks famous features including elephant rock, the fire wave, white domes, seven sisters, rainbow vista, mouse’s tank and the beehives.
