Clear Lake Beauty on San Juan County Road 12
Clear Lake Road located in the San Juan National Forest near Silverton, Colorado offers fabulous scenery, a high alpine lake and a beautiful waterfall. The Four Wheel drive road is 4.1 miles each way and climbs from 9,474' to 11,989' at the lake. i visit this area many times during the summer months and during my first hike up in June the road was still closed due to snow and I was unable to make it to the lake. I returned in July with Jane Marie Johnson, Michelle Oppenheimer, and my camera to view and photograph the expansive wildflowers. Jane Marie drove her jeep as far as the Bandora mine and saved me carrying my camera all the way up from the bottom.
